Washington DC
This annual Burner event "… started back in 1994 when several dozen Cheap Suit Santas paid a visit to downtown San Francisco for a night of Kringle Kaos. Things have reached Critical Xmas and Santarchy is now a global phenomenon." [source] The bulk of DC Santarchists (100+) met by 2pm on the National Mall and traipsed around the city giving away gifts and candy, singing rude Christmas songs and generally whooping it up. As the evening approached, drinking, dancing and debauchery proceeded indoors at various bars and establishments (I finally went to my first strip club, Camelot … it was okay). Kevin and I met Jill beforehand and joined the rest of the Santas, Deer, Elves and other characters around 8 or so at Porter's. Earlier in the week Kevin and coworker Eric procured a couple BIG branches of mistletoe (we're talking sawed off four foot lengths) from a tree in a parking lot near Rt. 66. We took one with us, broke off sprigs and give them away. Not that anyone needed encouragement to be kissing one another… Here's Goddesscomedia with my boyfriend Twist; and Thibeaux: |
